The CADC Research Commons has design studio, presentation and collaborative work environments that support research and research-centered undergraduate and graduate coursework.
The studio, alcove and seminar spaces are available to all programs in the CADC depending on each semester’s needs. The conference room and offices provide one central location for collaboration for our college. On campus, our college is spread out in three different buildings; having a common conference space in the college is beneficial for when we are collaborating on college-wide initiatives and goals. We also have full-time college staff in the space serving in communications, research and grants.
The Commons provides space for all faculty completing research to have a dedicated area to work.
The 4,000 square foot CADC Research Shop provides support for the college’s expanding research activities. The Research Shop includes equipment devoted to research in cross-laminated timber (CLT) and other mass timber construction systems. The CADC is working closely with industry partners and faculty from multiple other colleges to explore opportunities for expanding the use of advanced wood building systems. The CADC Research Shop also includes a streaming table to support the landscape architecture program’s research into coastal ecologies and landscape infrastructure.
